We all love the bundle versions of the consoles in general, as we get to enjoy the game in the bundle for somewhat less price. Nevertheless, the consumer does pay for the game that they are getting with the console. Recently, most people from the Nintendo community, myself included, got to learn something new. According to Nintendo’s Support, Nintendo Switch 2 Bundle Games are redeemed by the console, not your Nintendo Account.
An Unfortunate Situation
Earlier today, @voidbeastofwar (user), posted his experience about purchasing the Nintendo Switch 2 Pokémon Legends Z-A bundle on the Pokémon subreddit page.
“A Warning for those buying Switch 2’s with Legends Z-A”
In this post, the user explained that he got a new Switch bundle with the new Pokémon Legends Z-A game. After three days, the Joy-Con broke, and he got the system replaced from GameStop as it was in warranty. For a few days, the game worked fine on the new Switch 2 console, but after a few days, Nintendo removed the game from the console.
The user contacted the Support and got to learn that the bundle games are a part of the console, and the console redeems the game. If the game does not run on the original console on which it was redeemed, Nintendo permanently removes it. So, the user now has to buy the game separately for his new Switch 2, which he already paid for.
Another thing to my surprise was how Nintendo responded to the situation. “We didn’t steal nothing.” It sounds totally unprofessional, but we let it slide. However, if that is the case, Nintendo should mention this, especially on their bundle consoles.
Community Responds to the Situation
“It doesn’t really matter either way if this is true. The problem is that Nintendo should transfer the ownership of your bundled game through any NS2 you own. Both me and my girlfriend purchased Mario Kart bundles. So if, later on, we need to use a warranty or if we decide to buy a special edition or theoretical OLED console, we’ll be forced to purchase Mario Kart World again for $80 USD? That’s ridiculous and is absolutely tantamount to theft at the worst, and false advertisement at the best.”
“It is rather weird… you would think the game would be tied to your user profile and not the hardware? If I upgrade to switch 2 pro when it comes out, I lose ZA?”
