How to Get Froakie in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
There are a couple of ways to get Froakie in your journey in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Like most of the strongest Pokémon, Froakie appears in a Wild Zone. However, it appears in the Wild Zone 16, almost close to the end-game. It will take you a while to unlock the Wild Zone 16 and catch Froakie from within.
Now, the second method to get Froakie, which is an early method, is to complete the “Side Mission 9: A Challenge from Froakie”. The side missions unlock during the Main Mission 5. Upon completing the Main Mission 5, you will unlock Side Missions 4 to 9, allowing you to pursue the A Challenge from Froakie side mission and get Froakie early.
Complete Side Mission 9: A Challenge from Froakie
A Challenge from Froakie is a side mission from Surv, who you can find in Jaune District (northeast). Surv will be standing next to a scaffolding in the Jaune District. Upon speaking to Surv, A Challenge from Froakie will initiate. Now, it is a three-part side mission, requiring you to climb up the scaffolding to reach Froakie before the time runs out.
The first two sets of scaffolding will be at the initial location of Surv in the Jaune District. For the third set, Surv will move to the north side of the city. Follow along the north boulevard to find Surv, right before the Pokémon Center.
First Scaffolding Set
To climb the first scaffolding set, you will get 30 seconds. It follows a simple climb route leading to the top of the building, where you will find Froakie.
Second Scaffolding Set
To climb the second scaffolding set, you will get 40 seconds. It also follows a simple climb route, but includes narrow platforms. You can run along the platforms to make the most time. However, you can walk along the platforms to climb up to Froakie in just enough time.
Third Scaffolding Set
The final Scaffolding Set is on the North Boulevard. Speak with Surv to initiate the final climb to the scaffolding. To climb the third scaffolding set, you will get 50 seconds. It is the trickiest set of the others, as it will require you to use the roll to reach certain platforms. Initially, you will have to climb a couple of ladders to go to the top, then roll down to a lower platform to cross to the other side of the road. After that, you will have to perform another roll to reach a platform, and then you will reach Froakie.
Upon completing all three scaffolding sets within time, Surv will give you Froakie for the rest of your journey.
