To make your hunt easier, it’s worth using one of the Gone Hunting Traps, especially as each one has unique effects to help you catch creatures with mutations. Using traps in Gone Hunting isn’t the only thing you can use to catch animals. There are also guns and fishing rods.

Gone Hunting Traps

You can purchase traps from the Jollaby Johnston NPC at his store, called Johnston Outdoors. When you open the menu of the items available, click the option that says ‘Traps’ at the top of the screen. Here, you can view all the ones available, their price, and any additional buffs they give you.

How to Use Traps

Once you buy a trap, it will appear on your character, almost like an accessory. It will also show up in your hotbar at the bottom of your screen.

To use it, walk to an area that often has animals walking around. Make sure it’s a nice open space. Then, select the trap from your hotbar, and it will float next to you. Position the trap where you want it to go. It will have a red outline if it cannot be placed. When green, click on the screen to place it down.

You don’t need to stay near your trap. You can walk around and check back later. If it catches something, you will be able to collect it by holding E.
