Type Soul Buddies
Buddies in Type Soul go on your shoulder! They offer various buffs depending on which ones you get, and they are an accessory-type item. As of right now, there are 36 Shoulder Buddies in total, and they unlock passives for your Volt/Shikai/Res.
Plus, some even provide Essences and Skill Tree Skills. If you’re lucky enough to get a Secret Shoulder Buddy, you may unlock a unique move that you can only get by equipping said Buddy. In terms of stat boosts, Buddies increase your Mode Gain and reduce Mode Drain. However, they do not change your DEF or HP stats.
How to Get Shoulder Buddies in Type Soul
You can obtain Shoulder Buddies for free at random by spending time in the AFK World, taking part in Clan Wars, raids, boss fights (both normal and World Bosses), and other game modes. In the AFK World, the Shoulder Buddy Rerolls are a Mythical item drop, which means they have a low drop chance of 0.5%.
These Shoulder Buddy Rerolls grant you new Shoulder Buddies, and as with most other mechanics in Type Soul, they all have their own rarities and drop rate chances. If you go down the boss route, you simply need to defeat bosses in hopes that Shoulder Buddies drop. I recommend fighting against The Fear, as this is the easiest boss fight in Type Soul currently. As long as you’re strong enough, this battle should be fairly quick each time.
You can also trade for Buddies with other players! Trading works with both normal Shoulder Buddies and those which have traits. By using a Trait Reroll on a Shoulder Buddy, you can stack additional passives with their already-existing passive.
