“Is Brad here? I just really need to see him.” Vertical has revealed the official trailer for an indie film titled Griffin in Summer, a coming-of-age comedy about a precocious 14-year-old boy. It reminds me of Wes Anderson’s classic Rushmore but with a whole different awakening. Set for release starting later this month. Newcomer Everett Blunck stars as Griffin – the most ambitious playwright of his generation. He’s also fourteen years old. When his mom, played by Melanie Lynskey, hires a handsome 25-year-old handyman, Griffin’s life and his new play take an inspired turn. The cast includes Owen Teague, Kathryn Newton, and Abby Ryder Fortson. Early reviews state: “A showcase for (Colia’s) stellar casting abilities and knack for heartwarming storytelling, Griffin in Summer is a very fine feature directorial debut.” The kid in this, Everett Blunck, is also the same kid that stars in The Plague, one of the big breakout films from Cannes this year. Everyone will be familiar with him after that one, but this is also his very first lead role – check it out. // Continue Reading ›
