“You want to know why it happened here? Because people let it happen.” Sony Pictures Classics debuted an early teaser trailer for Nuremberg, a new film written and directed by screenwriter James Vanderbilt, the second feature he has directed (after producing and writing many other movies). Adapted from the book titled “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist” by Jack El-Hai, the film is set around the famous Nuremberg Trials from 1945-1946 in Germany. It’s set to premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival first, before arriving to watch in theaters this November. A WWII psychiatrist evaluates Nazi leaders before the Nuremberg trials, growing increasingly obsessed with understanding evil as he forms a disturbing bond with Hermann Göring. “The world will bear witness…” A recreation of the iconic Nuremberg trials, where it was determined that “following orders” was not a valid excuse. Starring Russell Crowe as Nazi Hermann Göring, Rami Malek as Douglas Kelley, Michael Shannon as Robert H. Jackson, Leo Woodall, Richard E. Grant, John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, and Wrenn Schmidt. Only a first look with less than 60 seconds of footage so far. It seems they want to remind us of how fascism can take over minds. // Continue Reading ›
