“This thing comes back – we need to be ready for it!” Shudder has revealed an official trailer for Monster Island, an indie horror thriller made by Singaporean filmmaker Mike Wiluan. It’s a creature feature from the other side of the world, about a ferocious mythological creature, called the Orang Ikan. Which is sort of similar to the Creature for the Black Lagoon, a violent fish-like creature who inhabits this island. Will they defeat it? After being torpedoed by allied submarines, a Japanese soldier and a British POW are stranded on a deserted island and soon discover that they’re being hunted by a ferocious mythological creature, known as the Orang Ikan. Set in the Pacific, 1942. Two mortal enemies must come together to survive the unknown. The survival horror film, which is supported by the Singapore Film Commission (SFC), was shot at Infinite Studios in Batam, Indonesia – one of the largest production service facilities out in Southeast Asia. The film stars Dean Fujioka, Callum Woodhouse and, Alexandra Gottardo. After first premiering at festivals last year it’ll be streaming on Shudder starting in July this summer movie season.
