Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 improves on the original game in nearly every aspect. According to Warhorse Studios, the reason is simple: while creating the first game, the team was still learning and experimenting as they worked. By the time they started the sequel, they had gained experience, expanded their team, and clearly understood what kind of game they wanted to create.

In an interview with Edge magazine, lead designer Prokop Jirsa explained that the development of the first game involved constant experimentation.

“Many things in the first game were completely new to us, so we had to experiment and learn along the way. When you try something truly new, it’s unlikely everything will be perfect from the very beginning.”

For Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the situation was very different. The developers built the sequel using an already established formula. They knew which features worked well, which parts of the first game had problems, and where players expected improvements. Jirsa said the sequel keeps the heart of the original game but improves it in every way.

Another important factor was that between the releases of the two games, Warhorse Studios became part of Plaion, a subsidiary of Embracer Group. This gave the studio more resources and allowed them to hire additional staff.

According to Jirsa, by the time Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was released, Warhorse Studios had around 250 employees, which is about 100 more people than during the development of the first game. As the team grew, the studio also improved its workflow, making it easier to manage the development process and coordinate work between departments.

Recently, Warhorse Studios became involved in a major controversy. The studio dismissed a translator and replaced them with AI. It was also reported that a producer from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 moved to CD Projekt RED.
