The phrase if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it holds no weight after the unfortunate demise of Roblox Classic Faces. The end of an era, which the community tried to rebut with public distaste to no avail.

Some Robloxians also went as far as to start a trend of ‘cursing’ David Baszucki, the Founder and CEO of Roblox. Viewer discretion advised; the following images depict darker themes, hateful text, and bright colours.

Needless to say, this is an extreme reaction to the removal of Classic Faces.

We also covered the Age Verification drama that took place some months before this rollout.

The Removal of Self-Expression

Roblox Staff GeneralRelish started the Completing the Dynamic Head Migration Forum back on January 15th, 2026, with the message:

To deliver new capabilities and overcome the complexity of the growing Roblox avatar ecosystem, we are completing the migration to Dynamic Heads. This unified schema makes all heads and bodies compatible and allows for new features.”

A more public announcement followed on January 27th, stating:

Classic Heads and Faces are static and do not support the defined cage regions or animation requirements of this policy, nor do they allow for users to express themselves…”

Therefore, we are completing the conversion of all Classic Heads and Faces to Dynamic Heads…

The problem with this announcement was the forced unification between Classic Heads and Dynamic Heads, pressuring players who already own and use Classic Heads to comply and join the migration.

This planned update was met with no positive reception due to the universal execution of self-expression. The projection that Classic Faces were seen as a lacklustre way to express oneself, especially struck a nerve with the community*, who, since 2009, have loved and cherished their Classic Face models.

RIP Roblox Classic Faces

As of now, all Roblox Classic Faces are off sale, and the marketplace category to find them is completely removed. Any links to the old Classic Face models result in an Error 404 page.

Crashing Market Ecosystem

High-value faces, such as the Super Super Happy Face and more, have rapidly begun dropping in value. This then kick-started a catastrophic downtrend in the marketplace ecosystem.

What was once a limited, sought-after and unique faceplate is now causing panic to those who own it, be it for personal use to represent themselves, or as a trading token.

TikTok user Macroabuser posted a short clip of their Super Super Happy Face in motion. The video displayed the unnatural movements and stiff rigging of the newly imported Dynamic Heads.

This is also a huge deal to UGC Creators, who are now left feeling unimportant due to the Dynamic Heads’ clipping with facial accessories. The Dynamic Heads phase through heads, and awkwardly protrude or cave in, making models with and without facial accessories misaligned.

Additionally, creators who previously made 2D faces now must comply and rework their models to 3D. Choosing between 3D adaptation and having their work taken down and eventually removed entirely. Forced conformity to an undesired update means many creators now have the challenging decision to make between converting or losing their primary source of income.

If Only…

If Roblox truly wishes for players to have free-range self-expression, this update could have dropped differently with a simple toggle, giving Robloxians the choice between turning Dynamic Heads on and off.

This would save the market, save the emotional backlash, and would have negated all turmoil entirely for the Roblox Staff and community.

Instead, all players now conform to half-baked uncanny valley rigs that don’t do justice to the beloved Classic Faces lost.

As of right now, it doesn’t seem like Roblox Staff have any plans to accommodate, further spelling the end to a once-rich era.
