Solo developer Mūn Mūn Games has just released a demo on Steam for its upcoming game Out Fishing. Published by Unikat Label, it’s a first-person fishing horror game. I mean, you go fishing on a remote, abandoned lake, so of course, there has to be a scary element, right?
So, here’s the premise
The player returns to a place they used to fish as a kid, only to find it abandoned. The quiet trip to fish and explore turns into something unsettling as you realise that something in the lake is watching you.
Apart from fishing, you upgrade gear and build up a camp while exploring a haunted forest. Side by side, you uncover clues about what happened while exploring the area. The important part is that you’re supposed to return before nightfall, because that’s when the danger starts to appear.
The creepy thing sometimes moves through the forest, sometimes hides in the fog, and sometimes comes from the water itself. It’s a slow progression where the farther you explore, the closer you get to uncovering the truth behind the disappearance in the lake.
At night, it becomes a complete horror. Each night reveals more of the nightmare through strange encounters and discoveries. Out Fishing has a dynamic day-night cycle and shifting weather that affect fishing conditions, exploration, and the threats.
Check out the Out Fishing demo on Steam
Out Fishing has a simple yet eerie idea. You cast your line, but once the light fades, you are no longer alone by the water. It tries to replicate the psychological dread of titles like Silent Hill, Alan Wake, and Mundaun. Watch the Out Fishing demo trailer here.
If you want to get a piece of Out Fishing, you can check out the demo on Steam. It includes the first two chapters, letting you fish, build, sell, and upgrade gear. The full game doesn’t have a specific launch date yet.
