“So come with me – you will see big rock candy mountain!” Cartoon Saloon has revealed the first teaser for their next new animation project titled Kindred Spirits, directed by the studio’s co-founder & animation master Tomm Moore. It’s the latest feature he is directing himself since making the brilliant Wolfwalkers in 2020. It’ expected to be finished only in 2028 or 2029 – as these kind of hand-made animation projects take years to complete, especially when made independently by a small studio like Cartoon Saloon. The film follows an Irish refugee child alone in 1840s New York and a Choctaw Nation son far from his family. When their paths align, Mara and Tushka will journey through epic adventures and magical encounters, watched over by Mara’s brother Dan, who cannot accept his passing into the spirit realm. Together they are searching for a people to call family and a place to call home. Exploring the historic bond between Irish & Choctaw nations, Kindred Spirits is a film about grace, compassion, and humanity. No voice cast revealed yet – only this quick glimpse of footage so far. Stay tuned as they continue working on this lovely new film. Get a peek. // Continue Reading ›
