Resident Evil Requiem is the latest entry in the Resident Evil series, in which players will get to experience the survival horror and action like never before. This new entry stars two protagonists: the returning fan-favorite Leon Kennedy and a new character, Grace Ashcroft. Although the players might get a familiar feeling of playing a Resident Evil game, it offers the key gameplay mechanics that are different for each character. Moreover, there are various points in the game where you have to proceed with a situation with stealth or aggression. In this guide, we will tell you the beginner tips and tricks for Resident Evil Requiem to help you understand the core playstyle so that you don’t feel stuck.
Resident Evil Requiem – Beginner Tips and Tricks
Change the Camera Perspective to Your Ease
Throughout the campaign, you will switch between Grace and Leon, experiencing the dark horror theme and survival action elements. Grace’s playthrough mainly revolves around a dark survival horror theme and has a first-person camera perspective by default. It makes the survival element much more appealing, as you will be running and hiding from the monsters to work your way out of the threat (most of the time).
Leon, on the other hand, has an action-focused playthrough, where you will be taking down any threat in your way. He has a third-person camera perspective by default, making it easier for you to keep an eye on the threats.
Now, you can change the camera perspectives for both of these characters from the main menu. If you want to have a better view of the surroundings while playing Grace, then you should switch to a third-person camera perspective. Similarly, if you want to experience the action in first-person perspective like the previous Biohazard and Village titles, then you can do that as well.
Use Stealth to Take Out the Zombies
The weapon ammo is scarce in Resident Evil Requiem, which makes the overall survival element shine. There are plenty of ways to work your way out of a zombie attack, but the better solution is to use stealth. Zombies in Requiem is very different than the previous titles. All of them have a certain pattern, and they do not notice you straightaway. You can use the cover and stealth to your advantage to go past the zombies. Moreover, you can make use of the stealth attacks to eliminate them.
Make Use of Melee Weapons
In addition to the previous tip, both Grace and Leon have a unique melee weapon. Grace uses a Makeshift Knife, and Leon uses a Hatchet. Using the melee weapons allows you to stagger the zombies, giving you an opportunity to push them away or eliminate them. Grace does not have the experience to give a fatal blow to a staggered zombie; she pushes them back to make space for an escape. Leon, on the other hand, can give a martial arts kick to a staggered zombie to eliminate it. Not only that, but Leon has the ability to parry incoming attacks to negate damage. Moreover, Leon can repair the weapon if the durability is low.
Avoid the Girl Creature at All Costs
During the campaign, you will run into a Girl creature while playing as Grace. She is a strong enemy, and you cannot take her down with a weapon or a knife. You must run the other way to avoid her and hide to let her pass. Your main survival instinct to survive her encounters is to run to rooms with lights. It is because the Girl is afraid of the lights. If you are in an encounter, look for a room with lights to avoid her.
Craft Healing Items and Ammunition
Green Herbs are back, and they are once again your lifeline for survival. Pick every green herb and combine them to make healing. Moreover, the ammo is scarce in Requiem. You must use the materials to craft ammunition for the weapons.
Manage Your Inventory
Now, managing inventory is very crucial in Requiem. You must always have a room to grab crucial items, and the game has different methods for each protagonist. While playing as Grace, you will find Storage Crates. You can store items in these crates to make space in the inventory and retrieve them later. Moreover, you can find Hip Pouches to increase the slots.
While playing as Leon, you will get access to Supply Boxes that let you exchange credits for weapons, ammo, armor, upgrades, and a one-time inventory slot upgrade. To make the most space as Leon, you must sell the weapons you do not need. You will still be able to repurchase them from a supply box.
Explore Areas Thoroughly for Better Equipment
Our last tip for you is to explore the areas thoroughly to find materials, secrets, collectibles, and containers that hold better equipment. Always be on the lookout for charms and containers. The charms provide buffs for your character, increasing the overall survival chances. You can keep the charms in the inventory as Grace or put them on a weapon as Leon.
The containers, like locked drawers and safes, hold the best equipment that the game has to offer. You will come to find these containers as you explore new areas. Unlocking these containers will require you to find a certain code. Usually, the code will be mentioned nearby in a file. If you spot any file, read it carefully to see if it holds code.
