Arc Raiders’ new update, Shrouded Sky, is finally here with two new Arc threats, a Dam Battlegrounds map update, a brand-new map condition, and a lot of changes. One of the major highlights of the new update is the new map condition called Hurricane. As the name suggests, this new map condition is a hurricane storm, requiring players to adapt to new gameplay mechanics for survival. In this guide, we will tell you everything you want to know about the new Hurricane map condition in Arc Raiders.
Hurricane Map Condition Guide – Arc Raiders
The Hurricane map condition rotates on most of the maps, including Buried City, Dam Battlegrounds, and Spaceport. Similar to the Cold Snap map condition, the overall loot is increased in the Hurricane map condition. Players will get more valuable loot all over the map, especially from high-value locations. However, the Hurricane map condition is unforgiving and requires players to adapt to new gameplay mechanics. There are three different challenges to overcome during this condition.
Wind
Debris
Visibility
In addition to the challenges, there is a new type of cache that spawns on the map. This new cache is known as First Wave Cache.
Wind
Throughout the hurricane map condition, you will face strong winds. These winds introduce a new gameplay element. When you are running in the direction of the wind, your character will run fast. Moreover, throwing throwables will cover great distances in the direction of the wind. However, if you run against the direction of the wind, your character will run slowly and consume more stamina. Moreover, the throwables will not cover the usual distance and get displaced in the air because of the wind. Not only that, but if you are jumping from a height against the wind, the wind will push your character.
To survive in the harsh winds, you must navigate the topside appropriately. Try not to exhaust your character too much while running against the wind. Bring a full stack or two of Adrenaline Shots to run through the winds without tiring.
Debris
The strong wind kicks up dirt and debris from the surface that affects your shield. Although your character does not take damage, the shield degrades gradually while roaming in the winds. It is because the debris makes the shield glitch, slowly degrading it and making it spark. This makes the shield useless out in the open, as it cannot reduce incoming damage properly.
Now, to overcome the challenge of debris, you must take off your shield and put it in the inventory. This way, your shield will not degrade and will not spark. It is crucial because the spark highlights your character in low visibility, making it easier for other raiders to spot you. Once you are inside a building, you can put on the shield back. Moreover, you have to be more cautious while approaching the shelter, as other raiders will have the same plan.
Visibility
With harsh winds and debris flowing on the topside, it affects the overall visibility. The hurricane map condition has low visibility, making it harder for you to spot anything. You can easily run into Arc or other raiders without spotting them. It is best to make the most use of the sound to get a hunch of what’s ahead.
If you are someone who does PvP, then it is best for you to keep the shield off. This way, other raiders cannot spot you unless they are close to you. Moreover, it will be easier for you to spot the raiders with a shield on. You can get close to them without raising any alarm and take them out by surprise.
First Wave Caches
The First Wave Cache is a new type of caches that spawn randomly in the open during the Hurricane map condition. It provides more valuable items than the regular Raider Caches, including weapon blueprints, rare weapons, ammunition, materials, healings, shields, and throwables. However, it is rarer than the raider cache and has a different tone than the ticking sound.
If you are navigating through the harsh wind, keep an eye out for the First Wave Cache to get valuable items.
