“Thanks to the camera, I can soar up above! I’ll no longer be limited by the stage.” Sony Pictures Classics has debuted their official US trailer for the French animated film called A Magnificent Life, the shorter version of its original Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol title. It’s the latest wondrous animation film creation from Sylvain Chomet – acclaimed director of The Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist. This is his latest feature since last making Attila Marcel in 2013 – back again with his vivid animation style with so many sharp details. He also made the animated short at the start of Joker: Folie à Deux about his shadow. His new film follows the life of Marcel Pagnol, a playwright, novelist, and a filmmaker who became one of the world’s most inventive & prolific artists in the mid-20th century. Based on Pagnol’s book, examining his entire life from childhood through his successful career in France and beyond. We featured a teaser way back in 2024 before it would later premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Opening in US theaters (with an English dub) starting in March 2026 soon. The French voice cast includes Laurent Lafitte, Géraldine Pailhas, Thierry Garcia, and Anaïs Petit; with Tom Hiddleston in the English voice cast as Marcel. It looks delightful and charming and lots of fun – even with mixed reviews so far. I’m ready to watch anyway. // Continue Reading ›
