Fascinating New PS5 Action RPG Announced With Gorgeous Trailer

Indie developer Chaos Manufacturing revealed its fascinating new video game, Sol Shogunate (stylized SOL Shogunate) in a new PlayStation Blog post. Along with the first details is a new trailer that showcases its gorgeous visuals and stylish action.

What is Sol Shogunate?

Sol Shogunate is a single-player third-person action RPG that takes place in a sci-fi setting that pays homage to feudal Japan. Players will take control of protagonist Yuzuki, a “lone survivor of a once-powerful samurai family” who traverses the moon to get her revenge on the rival clan who murdered her family.

Here is a description, as well as a trailer, to give PS5 players an idea of what to expect from Sol Shogunate:

“Paint the stars with the blood of your enemies in this Samurai Space Opera, Action RPG set in an alt-future solar system ruled by the sword. A pulse-pounding soundtrack drives your gravity-defying, blood-soaked path of revenge as Yuzuki the ‘Shattered Heir’ to a massacred clan who becomes an outlaw ronin.”

As seen briefly in the Sol Shogunate trailer, Chaos Manufacturing CEO Guy Costantini says its combat “emphasizes precision, timing, and adaptability.” Yuzuki utilizes her genetically modified tools to take out various enemies. Also, the developer emphasizes its original music to create a more memorable action experience. They are collaborating with Japanese rock artists like AliA.

Costantini also explains how Chaos Manufacturing is heavily inspired by Japanese history, culture and media, and how that is translated through Sol Shogunate:

“Each metropolis on the moon, for example, draws inspiration from a different era of Japanese history. These environments act as both living spaces and reflections of the shogunate’s reach across the solar system. To navigate these zones, players will traverse vertical districts using gravity assist gear, and even uncover hidden layers within each biome, discovering clues that will unlock mysteries about SOL Shogunate’s rich backstory.”

Sol Shogunate does not currently have a PS5 release date yet. Chaos Manufacturing stated it is in “the early stages of development,” so it may be a while until we get a launch date.
