Pickaxe Progression
Arguably the most important tool in The Forge, you’re constantly upgrading your pickaxe so that you can get better (and rarer) ores.
To Save or Not to Save?
The progression with pickaxes is fairly straightforward. You can either choose to save up for each one as you go along, or you can skip a few to go for the one you truly want. Some pickaxes aren’t too different in price, so at times, it can be worth just saving your Gold until you have enough.
Stats are Important
When deciding which pickaxes you want to get, it’s important to take note of their stats. Some rocks, especially those in the later areas (Forbidden Kingdom, Goblin Cave, Volcanic Depths, etc), require a high Mining Power stat to be broken.
This is definitely one of the main stats you should look out for, as well as Luck! The higher the Luck stat of a pickaxe, the higher the chance of getting a rarer ore.

How Forging Works
Forging is the main way of upgrading your character’s stats when it comes to dealing damage and improving your defenses.
Rare Ores
Progressing your forging requires you to collect and use rare ores. Many of the rarest ores offer a high multiplier when used to forge armor and weapons. While the minigame remains the same no matter what you’re forging, it’s the results of your crafting that are key.
Forging Takes Skill
Depending on how well you do during the minigame, the stats of the forged item will differ. It’s also tricky to know how many of each ore to use when you’re setting up.
You’ve probably noticed that adding more of a certain ore compared to another reduces the multiplier significantly. When deciding which ores to use and how many, it’s all about trial and error. Quantity does not always produce quality, as they say!
Selling Your Forged Items
If you have forged items in your inventory that you no longer use, or that didn’t turn out the way you wanted, you can sell them. This ties in to the progression of pickaxes. As you make more Gold, you can purchase stronger pickaxes! To sell armor and weapons, look for merchants in the main locations.
Armor Progression
This links to the ‘Forging’ section in this guide, but I’ll go into more detail regarding pieces of armor here.
Increasing Your Defense
The main purpose of armor is to increase your defense stat. However, depending on the ores you use to forge, you can add additional stat boosts and abilities, too.
To progress your armor, it’s best to focus on obtaining rarer ores and to experiment with how many effects and buffs you can add. Make sure to keep an eye on the multiplier, as this is a good indication of how strong the forged item will be.
Enhancing Armor
Like weapons, you can visit the Enhancer shops to increase the stats of your armor. At Enhance Level +3, you can start to add Runes to armor pieces, unless they already have Rune Slots after being forged.
Equipping Armor With Runes
With Runes, after collecting them as rewards when defeating enemies, you equip them to your pieces of armor to further improve them. Each Rune has a different effect, so it’s up to you regarding which ones you opt for! You can always sell unwanted Runes to Cey.
We have an Armor Tier List and an Armor Recipes guide, too!
Weapon Progression
The better your weapon, the easier it is to defeat stronger enemies, thus granting you a chance of obtaining rare drops.
Rare Ores Make the Best Weapons
The rarest ores in the game sometimes provide additional effects such as inflicting Burn DMG, so these should be your priority when you’re planning on upgrading your current weapon.
Enhancing Weapons
By visiting Enhancer shops in The Forge, you can increase the Enhance Level of your weapon. Once it reaches Enhance Level +3, you unlock a Rune Slot. Some weapons start with no Rune Slots, whereas others can have 1, 2, or 3. Enhancing also improves the base stats of the weapon.
Equipping Weapons With Runes
If you manage to obtain Runes from enemy drops, you can equip them to your weapons. As mentioned above, the amount of Runes you can add to a weapon depends on how many Rune Slots are available. Unwanted Runes? Sell them to Cey.
Runes have various effects, so it’s best to choose wisely to find one that matches your play style and what you want to improve when it comes to your weapon.

Explaining Runes
Runes are a super important addition to your character’s build.
Why You Should Use Runes
You can obtain them from various enemies as a reward drop, but they are not always guaranteed. While each Rune has a different effect, with some more useful than others, it’s better to use one rather than none at all.
Luckily, you can remove a Rune from a weapon or piece of armor if you no longer use it, allowing you to add the Rune to new and improved forged items.

Achievements and Skills
Did you know there’s an Achievements feature in The Forge? When progressing through the game and reaching certain milestones, you unlock new and improved skills.
Most of these achievements require you to do a required number of specific tasks that you more or less do just by playing the game like any other player. You can only equip one skill, but you can pick and choose which ones you want to activate as and when.
To view your current skills, open the menu and select the ‘Achievements’ tab.
