“What am I looking for in this cave? I never felt like I fitted in, but the moment I put my head underwater it was like a refuge for me.” Dogwoof & Madman Films has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled Deeper, a fascinating profile of a unique individual. The film, from acclaimed director Jennifer Peedom (of the outstanding docs Sherpa, Mountain, River), follows the famous cave diver Richard Harris aka Harry Harris. It’s set after Harris was involved in the infamous Thai cave rescue in 2018 as one of the key divers during that remarkably tricky rescue. Years later after global fame from that rescue, Harris risks all diving New Zealand’s potentially deepest cave system as part of an exploration mission. As he pushes limits underground with limited air, he questions his motivations and impact on loved ones. This follows him and his team diving into what is known as “The Pearse Resurgence” (more info here), a network of underwater caves that might end up being the deepest cave dive in human history so far.
