How to Unlock Fishing in Where Winds Meet
To unlock the fishing in Where Winds Meet, you need to find and speak with Chu Shuiyang. She is an NPC who introduces fishing activity to players and gives the initial Fishing Rod (Kid’s Fishing Rod). You can find Chu Shuiyang next to the water, close to the Stonewash Strand’s Boundary Stone in Verdant Wilds.
After finding Chu Shuiyang, speak with her and select the “Want a fishing rod” option. She will give you a Kid’s Fishing Rod, 30x Dough Bait, 30x Worm Bait, and 30x Plant Bait. Now, you will be able to participate in any fishing contest and fish in any body of water to catch exotic fish.
How to Catch Fish in Where Winds Meet
The fishing mini-game in Where Winds Meet is quite simple to understand. It does not include any complex systems to worry about. Go to any body of water or a fishing contest (if you feel like it), and equip the Fishing Rod.
NOTE: You can find the Fishing Rod under the Quick Use section of the Develop menu. Swap through the quick-use items to equip the Fishing Rod while near any body of water.
After equipping the fishing rod, you need to equip a bait. Hold L2+Triangle (Console) /Alt+Mouse Scroll Wheel (PC) to choose a bait. Once done, hold the Square/E to cast the line into the water. Now, jiggle a line to lure the fish to the bait. Once the fish catches on to the bait, a bar with a green area will appear on the screen. You need to keep the white cursor on the green area until the reel in option pops up. Press the respective key to the reel-in prompt, and the character will catch the fish.
How to Get Better at Fishing in Where Winds Meet
There are various types of fish in Where Winds Meet. The rarer fish are difficult to catch, as the green area for them is smaller than common fish. The only way to tackle them is to get a better fishing rod. A better fishing rod has the capacity to catch rarer fish, as it keeps the green area bigger. So, if you come across a fishing rod while browsing a peddler, consider buying it, especially if you are into the fishing mini-game. Moreover, having a better fishing rod in a fishing contest will increase the chances of your winning.
