Superb Trailer for ‘The Love That Remains’ Icelandic Break Up Comedy

Janus Films debuted the first US trailer for an Icelandic dark comedy film titled The Love That Remains, a sly break up movie from Hlynur Pálmason. This premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year & was one of the best films of the fest – it also recently played at NYFF. Anna, an artist, and Magnús, a fisherman, live with their three children & charismatic sheepdog in the quiet grandeur of the Icelandic countryside. As fractures in their marriage come to the surface, the couple try to hold onto the afterimages of a life together and make sense of a deep & lingering devotion. Filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason (also of the immaculate Godland) brings surprising humor and emotional weight to this gorgeous, intimate, and brilliantly expansive scenes from a marriage, amidst the majestic backdrop of the changing seasons.
