“The lake is yours, dear.” The Future of Film is Female has debuted an official trailer for an indie sensation from the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year titled in full: Sunfish (& Other Stories on Green Lake). This calm & lovely anthology film features a series of interconnected stories set out at the beautiful Green Lake in Michigan (which is real – here on Google Maps). A wholesome film following the residents of a small town and the lake that binds them together. Lives intertwine around Green Lake as a girl learns to sail, a boy fights for first chair, two sisters operate a bed-and-breakfast, and a fisherman is after the catch of his life. Wistful, nostalgic, and rich with a sense of place, Sunfish invites us into a unique community united by a fleeting season. Director Sierra Falconer has crafted an elegant collection of interconnected tales —a tender ode to an idyllic, yet imperfect, corner of Northern Michigan. The cast features Maren Heary, Jim Kaplan, Karsen Liotta, Dominic Bogart, Tenley Kellogg, & Emily Hall. This is such a light, breezy, charming little indie film. I wish more people were making good films like this one… I highly recommend it. // Continue Reading ›
