Wondering if the Doors Scythe is a usable weapon? If you’ve seen some online content that showcases a player using the scythe against Bramble or other entities, we’re here to work out if it’s real or not! And if so, how do you get it? There’s one ‘weapon’ we know of in Doors, and that’s the Crucifix – read our How to Use the Crucifix walkthrough!
Doors Scythe
The scythe is a weapon that the Groundskeeper entity wields, who appears in the Outdoors level. If you didn’t know, the Groundskeeper is quite the anti-hero. It tries to save you multiple times, but gets angry if you push it too far. So, can you take its scythe and use it?
Can You Use the Scythe?
The short answer is no. Whilst the Groundskeeper entity drops its scythe on the hedge once Bramble drags it away during the latter part of the Outdoors level, you cannot pick it up. If you try to interact with the scythe after the cutscene ends, the game says that it is too heavy for you to carry. Admittedly, it would be pretty cool to wield a scythe during the Bramble boss sequence.
Now, the reason players believe the scythe is equippable is due to content circulating on the internet. Unfortunately, the content showcases a modded version of Doors, which doesn’t reflect the real game. For instance, there’s a scene where the player strikes Bramble with the scythe, and it flies backwards and ragdolls. I’m sure if this were a real addition to Doors, the combat animations would be a little more impressive than that.
You never know, with all this attention on the scythe, the devs might make it a usable item in the future. However, weapons aren’t really a thing in Doors, aside from items like the Crucifix. Plus, the scythe is only seen towards the end of the Outdoors level, which means it’s only useful for the final fight against Bramble, making it a little useless overall.
