“Who does justice serve, if not for people like Belén?” Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled an official trailer for an Argentinian drama film titled Belén, originally known as Somos Belén in Spanish. It’s opening in theaters in Argentina this September, but no US release date is set yet. A young woman hospitalized for pain discovers she’s pregnant. But after a medical emergency, she faces criminal charges. Set in the province of Tucumán in Argentina, Belén follows Julieta, a young woman accused of infanticide, and Soledad Deza, the bold lawyer who risks everything to take on her highly controversial, precedent-setting case. When injustice silences the truth, seeking justice becomes an act of courage. The film Belén is both a gripping courtroom drama, searing critique of systemic injustice, and celebration of resilience and sisterhood. Directed by and starring Dolores Fonzi, Belén is a vibrant & emotional film about the enduring fight for bodily autonomy.
