To help you survive in 99 Nights in the Forest, you need a good base that is both practical and that can prevent you from intruders. I’ll share some of the best 99 Nights in the Forest Base Ideas and how you can craft items to your advantage. Make sure you familiarise yourself with what the different 99 Nights in the Forest Achievements are and how you can get them.

99 Nights in the Forest Base Ideas

Let’s find out how to make a safe (and aesthetically pleasing) base.

Shelves

Once you unlock tier 2 of the crafting bench, you can craft shelves using 2 bolts. Aside from being able to store items, you can use them to your advantage and place them down in a circle against each other, leaving a gap in the middle.

These make for great protection against the Cultists. Although they can climb on top, it gives you higher ground to stand on while you shoot the ones with crossbows, before shooting the ones climbing. If you have a team, one of you can stand in the gap in the middle and shoot, as they won’t be able to get inside unless they climb up and jump down.

Log Wall

The description for this is that it ‘fortifies your base’, which is true! You can craft these using 12 pieces of wood. Place these around your map to give your base an added layer of protection to stop intruders from getting in.

Bear Traps

Don’t let the name fool you, as bear traps can also trap enemies. Place these inside your camp to catch a Cultist who tries to enter. However, be careful, as if you stand on one, you will take damage.

Best Base Layout

If you want the best layout for a base, and the one I normally use. I suggest starting by doing a layer of Log Walls around your camp. But leave an opening to make an entrance later. Then, do a layer of Shelves, followed by another layer of Log Walls. Then, plant some trees around as the outer layer.

As you left a gap, it should make for a narrow passageway as an entrance. Here, start by placing a bear trap, followed by a shelf, followed by another bear trap, and so on. This is a sure-fire way to catch any enemies.
