Disney Dreamlight Valley: Emotional Rescue is the upcoming free update, releasing next Wednesday on August 20, 2025. The Devs confirmed the new characters, update’s name, and the release date yesterday. In addition to the confirmation, the Devs dropped a short trailer later in the day, revealing the features and the content of the new update. A New Realm
The Emotional Rescue update will open a door to a new Realm, Inside Out. Similar to other Realm Doors, players will find the new Realm Door at the Dream Castle. They will have to spend Dreamlight to open the Realm door and enter the Inside Out universe. The design of the Inside Out Realm is the Headquarters from the movie.
Brand-new Realm Story Questline and Two new Characters
As players gain access to the Inside Out Realm, the main Realm story questline will start. Players will see Joy requiring help to fix the console in the Headquarters. Players will take the role of a mind worker to find the missing parts and the memories to fix the console. As players progress through the main Realm questline, they will also meet with Sadness, the second character of the update. Sadness will help you look at Riley’s motivational memories. Upon completing the main Realm questline, players will bring Joy and Sadness to the Dreamlight Valley.
Exclusive Friendship Quests for the New Characters
Joy and Sadness will have a unique house with a futuristic design. After welcoming Joy and Sadness to the Valley, players will be able to increase their friendship level with them, which will unlock exclusive friendship quests. Complete Joy’s questline to explore the possibility of Imagination Land with her, help Sadness in fixing the Rainy Day, and connect your sensitive side with hers. Completing the friendship quests for both of these new characters will reward players with exclusive friendship rewards.
Memory Mania Event Returns with New Rewards
In addition to the new update content, the Memory Mania Event will also return in the Valley on September 3, 2025, and last until September 16, 2025. Similar to the previous year’s event, players will have to gather event items around the Valley to get memory pieces. This will allow them to complete the event Duties, which will reward them with Inside Out 2-themed critters, decorative items, and a hockey outfit.
