Have you come across the 99 Nights in the Forest Owl yet? It has similar behaviour to the Deer. But if you make its eyes turn red, it will be out to get you. To prepare you for meeting this 99 Nights in the Forest creature, make sure you have a good weapon and know how to Revive.
99 Nights in the Forest Owl
The latest update introduced the Owl, and it is seen as a neutral entity that appears. It can spawn in Snow Biomes and The Forest at Night.
Owl Appearance
When it turns to night, there is a small chance a cutscene will play out. During this, you will see a Wolf being swooped by the Owl with the words “The Owl has woken up” appearing on your screen.
After the cutscene, the Owl has a chance to spawn. If it doesn’t, the Deer won’t appear, unless it’s during a Cultist Attack.
Once the Owl appears, it will land near you and stare. An icon of eyes will appear on the Owl, and they will start to turn red if you move around, and white if you stand still. If the eyes do not fully turn red, the Owl will soon fly away and have the chance to drop a feather.
However, if the eyes do turn red, it will be out to get you. It has similar behaviour to the deef, and it will fly away once it turns day.
How To Beat The Owl
Similar to the Deer, the best way to defeat the Owl is to keep a light on it. If you aren’t near your campfire, make sure you have a flashlight with you. The Owl will become stunned when you shine light on it. Although you can’t deal damage to it, the best way to avoid this creature is to use the light and hide.
