“We lived together for 11 years… And sometimes when you live with someone for that long, you forget where you end and where they begin.” Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the official trailer for Eleanor the Great, marking the feature directorial debut of actress Scarlett Johansson. She wanted to tell this unique story and have THE amazing June Squibb star in it and be her chance to shine once again in a lead role (also following last year’s Thelma). And she definitely does shine – always the best. The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and it should next play at all the fall festivals including Telluride & TIFF. Meet Eleanor! After the devastating loss of her best friend Bessie, the witty & proudly troublesome Eleanor Morgenstein, 94, tells a tale that takes on a dangerous life of its own. She moves to New York City to be with her family and gets caught up in a story she starts telling others. This stars June Squibb, Erin Kellyman, Jessica Hecht, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
