Prospecting Fire Opal
The Fire Opal is a Legendary rarity Mineral that is part of the Volcano update. It sells for around 1,600,000 coins, making it a highly profitable Mineral! However, it’s main use is for the Fire Protection quest, which makes it much easier to wander around the volcano.
How to Get Fire Opal in Prospecting
You can find the Fire Opal mineral in The Magma Furnace and at the Volcanic Sands. As with every other Mineral in Prospecting, there is no exact spot where the Fire Opal spawns. You just have to head to the locations where it can be found and hope you’re lucky enough to get it!
Equipping a strong Shovel and Pan is a surefire way of getting a rarer Mineral, like the Fire Opal. As it is of Legendary rarity, it’s more than likely not going to show up straight away, so don’t get discouraged.
How to Get to the Volcanic Sands and Magma Furnace
Now, you cannot access the required locations unless you unlock the new areas in the Volcano update. To do this, you must pick up the ‘Restoring the Lighthouse’ quest, which requires you to collect and bring 1 piece of Luminum to the Lightkeeper. This quest can be found at the lighthouse by Sunset Beach, and the Lightkeeper stands at the top, so you have to climb a bunch of stairs!
Next, go to the dock at Fortune River and speak to the Ferryman NPC. He asks if you want to visit Caldera Island, and when you select ‘yes’, you teleport to the Volcano Outskirts. From here, you can explore and head towards the known locations of the Fire Opal.
