“The Roses is a cautionary tale about romance.” Searchlight Pictures has debuted a new promo featurette for The Roses, an upcoming comedy from filmmaker Jay Roach (known for Meet the Parents & Fockers, the Austin Powers movies, Dinner for Schmucks, The Campaign). “All’s fair when love is war.” Life seems easy for this couple, however that’s all about to change. A tinderbox of competition and resentments hidden underneath the façade of a picture-perfect couple is ignited when the husband’s professional dreams come crashing down and his (ex-)wife’s career as a chef takes off. An updated, modern take on the book “The War of the Roses” written by Warren Adler, which was already made before into 1989 comedy of the same name. The first trailer arrived a few months ago already – it’s still set to open in September this fall. The Roses cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, with Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon.
