“All the things that you feel, embrace those feelings.” Sunrise Films is planning a US release for this indie favorite from the UK titled Last Swim, marking the feature directorial debut of talented filmmaker Sasha Nathwani. This premiered at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival last year, and Vertigo Releasing already opened the British film in UK cinemas in April earlier this year. It picked up a few awards during its festival run, and it was nominated for Best Film at the 2024 British Independent Film Awards. On A-level results day, an ambitious Iranian-British teen in London grapples with a major life decision while hanging out with friends across the city. A charming “hang out” film that is also a coming-of-age story about identity and growing up. Starring Deba Hekmat as the main character Ziba, Lydia Fleming, Denzel Baidoo, Solly McLeod, Jay Lycurgo, Michelle Green, and Narges Rashidi, Last Swim has been celebrated for its bold visual style, deeply human performances, and vibrant portrayal of modern cultural identity, friendship, mortality. Opening in the US on VOD very soon this summer. Check out the trailer below and add it to your watchlist. // Continue Reading ›
