The Shadows on the Wall is the new story quest for the Forgotten character in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Upon unlocking the Forgotten as a villager, you will get to explore the inside of the Skull Rock. In this guide, we will walk you through the Shadows on the Wall quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Complete the Shadows on the Wall Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Starting the Quest
The Shadows on the Wall quest begins automatically after completing the A Forgotten Name quest. It is the same quest where you welcome the Forgotten as a true villager to the Valley.
Make your way into the Skull Rock
Go to Skull Rock Island on Dazzle Beach and go inside the Skull Rock. Watch a brief cutscene and speak with the Forgotten.
Explore Skull Rock and investigate for clues
After speaking with the Forgotten, look around the ship area. Now, head up along the path to find the Forgotten. Speak to the forgotten and look around for the clues. There will be a sparkling spot on the ground near a turning wheel. Use the Royal Shovel to dig the spot, and you will find a Broken Lantern. Now, go back to the forgotten and speak to it.
Gather the materials to repair the Broken Lanterns
Here are all the materials that you need to gather to repair the Broken Lanterns.
3x Broken Lanterns: You should have 1 already. The other two will be in the water near the ship in Skull Rock. Use the Fishing Rod to fish the lanterns out.
3x Gold Ingot: Craft at the crafting station using Gold Nuggets and Coal Ores. Moreover, you can purchase it from Kristoff’s Stall.
9x Glass: Craft it at the crafting station using Sand and Coal Ores. Moreover, you can purchase it from Kristoff’s Stall.
9x Vitalys Crystal: Mine it from the nodes in the Vitalys Mines location in the Sunlit Plateau biome.
3x Pixie Dust Orbs: Shining gold orbs spread around the Valley. One will be in the Glade of Trust, one in the Forest of Valor, and the last one in the Forgotten Lands.
You have to run/glide/fly behind the Pixie Dust Orbs to catch them. They will try to flee as you get close. It is better to consume some food to have maximum energy to glide/fly behind them.
After gathering all of the materials, go to the crafting station and craft 3x Pixie Dust Lanterns. You can find the recipe under the “Functional Items” tab.
Place the Pixie Dust Lanterns on Rope Winches
Now, go up to the path in Skull Rock and place one Pixie Dust Lantern on each Rope Winch. After placing all three lanterns, you need to look for a shadow. Start rotating the winches by interacting with them until you see a running shadow.
Trap the Shadow
It is time to trap the running shadow. To do so, point the light of each winch at the wide wooden wall in the center. Once done, try communicating with the shadow. The shadow will tell you to shine the light on the gate at the end. Now, go to the winch near the gate and rotate it until it shines on the gate.
Talk to the Jade Skulls
Now, go near the gate to find a strange skull. Interact with it and it will ask you three different riddles. You must answer the riddles correctly to open the gate. Here are all the correct answers to the riddles.
A pirate ship.
A pixie.
A pan flute.
Upon answering the riddles correctly, you will be able to turn the handle to open the door. As you open the door, the Shadows on the Wall quest will conclude. Moreover, it will initiate the A Ship of Gold quest automatically.
