How to Complete the Nurture of Shadows Quest in Palia
Starting the Quest
The Nurture of Shadows quest begins automatically upon completing the Hexomancy 101 quest for Tamala. You can find the Nurture of Shadows quest under the Main Story tab in the Quests section. Tamala will ask you to get several items that she needs to create a counter-curse charm.
Gather the items for Tamala
Here are the items that you need to gather for Tamala.
1x Soon Tofu: Purchase the recipe from the Cooking Guild Store (requires Level 6) and cook it at the Standard Stove.
1x Midnight Floatfish: Catch it in the Elderwood Saltwater with a Worm bait during Evening and Night (6 PM to 3 AM).
1x Elderflower: Forage it from growing on the giant trees in the Deep Woods area of Elderwood.
3x Cave Piksii: Catch it in the Elderwood cavern areas. Moreover, it spawns by collecting the Staircase Mushrooms.
After gathering all the items, go to Tamala. Speak with her to give her the items, and she will give you the recipe for Whitestone Votive.
Gather more items for Tamala
Upon speaking with Tamala, she will ask you to gather some more items for cleansing. Here are all the items that you need to gather for her.
10x Whitestone Votive: Go to the Worktable and craft the Whitestone Votive using Whitestone Slabs, Plant Fiber, and Star-Quality Batterfly Beans.
3,500 Infected Essence: Forage the glowing purple orbs all over the Elderwood.
3x Ancient Koi: Catch it in the Elderwood Saltwater with a Worm bait at any time of the day.
15x Floatfish Mushroom: Forage it from growing on the giant trees in the Deep Woods area of Elderwood.
After getting all of the items, go back to Tamala. Speak with her to give her the items, and she will tell you to place the candles around the essence.
Place the candles around the cursed essence
Now, go to the Central Stables and interact with the essence to place the candles around it. Speak to Tamala and then check in again with the essence. You will see a Galdur Pup lying on the floor with no emotion. Speak with Tamala again and go through the dialogues.
Ask the Gardener for help
Go to the Bahari Bay and make your way to the Temple of the Roots to speak with the Gardener. Tell the Gardener about the Galdur Pup, and it will give you a hub to place near it so that the Gardener can examine the pup closely. After speaking with the Gardener, go back to the Central Stables in Elderwood and interact with the Galdur Pup to place the hub. Interact with the hub, and it will ask you to gather some materials for the repair.
Gather the materials for the repair
Here are all the materials that you need to gather for the repair.
2x Platinum Bar: Craft it at the Smelter using Platinum Ores.
5x Palium Bar: Craft it at the Smelter using Palium Ores.
1x Citrine: Mine it from the Clay nodes around the maps.
30x Flow-infused Wood: Cut the Flow-Infused trees around the maps.
After gathering all of the materials, go back to the gardener’s hub in Central Stables.
Repair the Pup and return the hub
Interact with the Gardener’s Hub to initiate the repair sequence. Unfortunately, despite the struggle, the repaired pup will show no stirring. Speak with the hub again, and it will tell you to return the hub to the Gardener. Now, go back to the Temple of the Roots and speak with the Gardener to return the hub. Continue along the dialogue to learn more about the situation.
Tell Tamala what you’ve learned
Now, leave the Temple of the Roots and open the map to find Tamala. Go to Tamala and speak with her. She will tell you to ask around the village for some other ideas.
Ask around to find out what comforts the residents of Kilima
Go to the Kilima Valley and speak with the following villagers.

Once done, the quest will update, requiring you to gather a set of new items.
Gather the items
Here are the items that you need to gather.
3x Elderwood Lotus: Forage it from the ground in the De Mer Dock and Mauvais Way areas in Elderwood.
1x Umbraan Betta: Catch it in the Elderwood Freshwater with the Glow Worm bait during the Evening and Night (6 PM to 3 AM).
1x Elderwood Pie: Complete the Little Bumble’s Pie quest to unlock the recipe, then cook it on the Standard Oven.
4x Silk: Craft it at the Fabric Loom using Silk Thread. Moreover, you can purchase it from the Material Store.
Place the items around the pup
After gathering all of the items, go back to the Central Stables and place them around the pup. Interact with the Pup and wait for a response. The pup’s eyes will light up, and it will give you a bark. Now, go to Tamala and tell her about the pup. Go through the dialogues, and the quest will conclude. Moreover, it will trigger the Home and Back Again quest, the final quest for the Courier Pet and Saddlebag functionality in Palia.
Rewards
Completing the Nurture of Shadows quest in Palia unlocks Platinum Galdur Pup (Pet) as a reward.
