How to Unlock Duchess in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Elden Ring Nightreign offers 8 different classes/characters, each one with a unique set of active, passive, and ultimate abilities. However, as the players start their journey to go on an expedition in Limveld, they will only have access to 6 characters. For the rest of the two characters, players will have to unlock them by playing/completing the expeditions. One of the locked characters is Duchess, a Rogue character with swift movement and dodge efficiency. This guide will break down how to unlock the Duchess in Elden Ring Nightreign.

How to Unlock the Duchess in Elden Ring Nightreign

Unlocking the Duchess character in Elden Ring Nightreign requires getting the Old Pocketwatch (Relic) and giving it to the hooded figure at the Roundtable Hold. The Old Pocketwatch is a unique relic that players earn by defeating Gladius, Beast of Night. It is the first Night Lord and the main boss of the first expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign.

NOTE: The Old Pocketwatch is a guaranteed drop by defeating Gladius. However, if players fail during the fight with Gladius, there will still be a chance for the Old Pocketwatch to appear as a random reward.

Upon getting the Old Pocketwatch Relic, speak with the figure in the white hood around the Roundtable Hold. Agree to give her the Old Pocketwatch, and she will reveal herself as the Duchess. Now, Duchess will be available for players to select and play in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Duchess is a nimble dexterity-based character in Elden Ring Nightreign. Due to her unique and fast playstyle, she deals quick strikes and can perform sorceries.  She has a high potential for damage and is quite versatile. She starts with the Daggers weapon that helps her connect quick stabs to the target. The main playstyle for Duchess is hit-and-run or use her capability to side-step (dodge) to keep the pressure on the target. She is the only Nightfarer with the ability to perform double dodge, allowing her to get away from hits without any trade.

Duchess Abilities in Elden Ring Nightreign

Like all the other characters, Duchess has a passive ability, a character class, and an Ultimate Art. Her set of unique skills not only makes her stand out in combat, but it also helps the allies.

Magnificent Poise (Passive Ability): She performs a side-step (dodge), and pressing the dodge input twice will let her perform a double dodge. The double dodge allows her to get further away from threats. Moreover, performing dodges and attacks as Duchess costs less Stamina than other characters.

Restage (Character Skill): Stage reprisal of recent occurrences to damage nearby foes. As you activate Restage after attacking a target, a ghost of the target will appear, taking the same hit as the target. However, the damage dealt by Restage is half of the actual attack.

Finale (Ultimate Art): Obscure self and surrounding allies to hide from foes. You and your allies become invisible, making it harder for enemies to detect you. If you are not ready for a certain encounter, you and your party players can slip away without any struggle. Moreover, you can backstab the foes easily with the ultimate for critical strikes. However, the invisibility is removed as you attack.
