Palia’s first expansion, Elderwood, brings a ton of content for players to experience. From the continuation of the main story to all-new materials, animals, fish, and new systems, there is much to discover. The main highlight of the new systems is the addition of Relics, a new piece of equipment that provides buffs to a player and their party. Acquiring any Relic consists of multiple preliminary tasks that players must complete. In this guide, we will tell you everything you want to know about the Artifacts and Relics in Palia.
Artifacts and Relics Explained in Palia
Artifacts are the pieces of Ancient, Umbraan, and Wartorn items that players can come across only in Elderwood. Players can find the Artifacts primarily through the Umbraan Shrines and Rummage Piles in Elderwood. Moreover, there are Trading Stations at the Central Stables, where players can trade any Artifact with other players. The main reason for collecting the different types of artifacts is to complete the respective sets or bundles. Similar to the Night Sky Temple bundles for the temples, each type of Artifact has its own set of bundles. Players can view the Artifact bundles at the respective station in the Central Stables. There are three stations, one for each type of Artifact bundle. Each bundle requires a certain number of Artifacts to complete and reward Elouisa’s Fun Bucks. It is a new currency that is mandatory for acquiring Relics.
Speaking of Relics, players can get them from the Relic Store right outside the Artifact stations. Each Relic costs a certain amount of Elouisa’s Fun Bucks, and some of them have additional requirements. Fulfilling the requirements allows players to purchase the Relics from the store. However, most of the Relics that players can purchase from the store are only Schematics. After getting the Schematics, players will have to speak with Elouisa about the corresponding Relic Schematic. It will trigger a respective quest, requiring you to gather proper materials to craft the Relic. After gathering the materials, players can use the Relic Crafter in the Central Stables near the waterfall to craft the corresponding Relic. Upon crafting a Relic, you can equip it in the exclusive Relic slot in the Accessories.
NOTE: Relics can only be equipped while in the Central Stables.
How to Unlock Artifacts and Relics in Palia
In addition to the explanation of Artifacts and Relics, players still have to unlock Artifacts and Relics to acquire them. For Artifacts, players must complete “The Elderwood” quest or find any Artifact in the Elderwood map zone. Completing the Elderwood quest will reward players with the “Umbraan Thing” artifact, or finding any Artifact will trigger the “Pieces of the Past” quest for Elouisa. This quest mainly introduces players to the Artifact and Relic systems.
During the Pieces of the Past quest, Elouisa and Caleri will mention the opening of the Artifact Stations and the Relic Store in the Central Stables. So, if players pursue the Pieces of the Past quest, they will gain access to the methods of attaining the Artifacts and Relics.
How to Get Artifacts in Palia
There are two primary ways to get the Artifacts in Palia. The first method is to get them from the Umbraan Shrines in Elderwood. There are 15 Umbraan Shrines across the Elderwood map, and each one offers a random Artifact. However, players have to offer a Sacred Flower for the return of an Artifact. The Sacred Flower is a rare item that spawns randomly across the Elderwood. Moreover, Tamala’s Potion Shop also sells the Sacred Flower for 350 Infected Essence each. You can either explore the Elderwood to find and forage the Sacred Flower or purchase it from Tamala’s Potion Shop. Fortunately, Infected Essence is quite common in Elderwood, so it will not take you long to farm it.
NOTE: Tamala’s Potion Shop becomes available during the Nature of Shadows quest. It is the main story quest in the game. Players must complete the Nature of Shadows quest to have access to Tamala’s Shop.
The second method to acquire Artifacts is to dig the Rummage Piles in Elderwood. Upon finding a Rummage Pile, equip the Hoe and start digging. After that, pick up the loot to see if you get any Artifact. Lastly, you can choose to trade with other players to get an Artifact at the Artifact Trading Stations. It is the best way to get the Artifact that you need to complete a set.
