Players find crafting Ominous Dark Shards the worst task in Oasis Retreat Star Path – Disney Dreamlight Valley

The current Star Path in Disney Dreamlight Valley contains over 100 tasks. In every new Star Path, there are some new tasks that receive mixed values from the players. Some players like the new variety of tasks, while some players find them difficult for various reasons. In the current Star Path, The Oasis Retreat, players find crafting Ominous Dark Shards the worst task, mainly because Onyx is a rare gem in the game.

Players complaining about the “Craft some Ominous Dark Shards” Task

It has been over a month since the release of the current Star Path. As more players are progressing the tasks of the Star Path, they are reaching the final tasks. Most of the players have a common complaint, and that is regarding the crafting of the Ominous Dark Shards task. This is one of the final tasks of the Star Path, requiring players to craft 30 Night Shards (Ominous Dark Shards).

The main reason for complaining is the use of numerous Onyx gems to craft Night Shards. As Night Shard does not have many uses other than using it in various quests, players find this task useless and worse in the Star Path. The Onyx gem is one of the unique gems in the game that does not have any particular location. Unlike other gems, you cannot mine it in certain biomes. It has a random chance of dropping from mining any mining nodes throughout the Valley.

One of the players shared a post on Reddit regarding the same complaint.

“IMHO the worst task on this path is to craft ominous dark shards. This task uses 10 very valuable (for crafting potions) Onyx to yield basically useless night shards. I have hundreds of night shards for which there is extremely limited need for gifting or crafting purified night shards used rarely for gifting. It’s more aggravating than crafting TWO swimming pools. At least rock is abundant. Onyx is not.”

Some players have similar opinions regarding this task, while others find it easier than others. Players who have stockpiled a lot of Onyx gems will definitely find this task easier.
