To equip consumables, players will have to equip a Pouch. A Pouch is one of the armour and clothing items in KCD2. It comes in four different variants and each variant provides more consumable slots than the other.
At the start of the game, players will not have any slot unlocked for consumables. Every time a player has to eat food or consume a potion, they will have to use it from the inventory. Equipping a Pouch will unlock the corresponding number of consumable slots. After that, players can equip the food and potions in those slots by selecting them from the inventory. Open the inventory to select the consumables you wish to equip. After that, it will highlight the available slots on the side. Simply, move the consumable to the available slot and release it to equip the consumable.
So, if you have all four consumable slots available, you will be able to equip any food item or potion in each slot. After that, you will be able to quickly equip the consumables in the slots with the shortcut keys.

There are four different Pouches available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Each one offers a certain number of consumable slots.

Various vendors across Trosky and Kuttenberg regions sell the Pouch item. You can normally find them at the Traders, and Cobblers. Players can get the Wanderer’s and Hunter’s Pouches from the Trader in the Trosky region. The Knight’s and Noble’s Pouches can be purchased from the Cobbler in Kuttenberg City.
