Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is an action role-playing video game that offers a first-person open world adventure experience in a medieval European era. Throughout the journey of Henry in KCD2, you can shape his play style in three different ways: Soldier, Adviser, and Scout. The Scout play style is all about stealth and it involves unique thievery mechanics like lockpicking, pickpocketing, and stealth takedowns/kills. All of these mechanics can be of great help, especially when you are trying not to raise any suspicion. However, you must first learn these mechanics and one of the most essential mechanics is Pickpocketing. In this guide, we will tell you how to do Pickpocketing in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How Pickpocketing Works in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Pickpocketing mini-game working in KCD2

Unlike other RPGs where pickpocketing is simple and easy to do, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 keeps the realism and keeps it hard. There is no doubt that new players will struggle with pickpocketing in KCD2 due to the difficult mechanics behind it. You specifically do not need anything to perform pickpocketing but you have to keep in mind a handful number of things.

Gaining Time for Stealing – Pickpocketing in KCD2

Pickpocketing is performed on NPCs with pouches, either on their back or at the front. The pouches on the front side are way harder to rob than the ones that are on the backside. Whenever you place your aim on the pouch of an NPC, you will get the option to “Rob”. Holding the respective key to perform the rob action will display a dial that starts the pickpocketing mini-game. The initial two seconds are necessary to accumulate to initiate the stealing process. Moreover, the rest of the time you gain by holding the robbing action button, it accumulates the total number of seconds that you will have to perform the stealing and leave the pouch before the victim catches you.

Furthermore, while you are gaining the time for the stealing, you have to focus on the middle of the dial. If the inside of the dial is blue, you are safe. But if the dial is starting to turn red, it means there is a chance that the victim will catch you. You must let go of the robbing action if the dial turns redder to start the stealing process with the amount of time you gained.

Stealing Process – Pickpocketing in KCD2

The second phase of the pickpocketing mini-game is the process of stealing the items from the pouch and getting out safely. Once you are in the pouch, you will see a yellow bar on the outer edge slowly decreasing. This yellow bar indicates the amount of time you have to steal and get away. Moreover, the first slot of the pouch will be a door, it is where you will start. You can either go right or left and interact with the “?” icon to reveal the goods.

After revealing the item, you can take it by pressing the interaction key. As you take an item, a second will be deducted from the total time. Now, for you to secure the item, you have to go back to the door icon and interact with it to exit the pouch before the total time runs out. If the time runs out during the stealing process, the victim will catch you and call the guards on you.
