Marvel Rivals is a new third-person 6v6 hero shooter that allows players to battle as their favorite heroes and villains from Marvel Multiverse. Similar to all the other hero shooters out there, Marvel Rivals also features character classes. The character classes define the main role of a hero allowing players to briefly understand what role they can achieve by picking a hero for their match. In this guide, we will be telling you all the character roles in Marvel Rivals.

All Character Roles in Marvel Rivals

There are three character roles or character classes in Marvel Rivals. It includes Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists. Each character role is different than the other and offers a specific type of playstyle in the match. For instance, Vanguards are tank characters with both offensive and defensive abilities, whereas, Duelists have various offensive skills allowing them to excel in one-on-one combat.

For every role, there are numerous heroes/villains from which you can choose one for your match. Moreover, every hero/villain has its own set of abilities based on the character roles. So, if you are considering to frag out in a match, picking a character from the Duelist role will be the best choice. Let’s learn more about each role in Marvel Rivals below.

Duelists Role in Marvel Rivals

The Duelists are the main offensive characters that excel in one-on-one combat. Their offensive set of skills allows you to boast your damage on an opponent to eliminate them easily. Moreover, certain Duelist characters also have the ability to increase the damage output of nearby allies.

However, not all Duelists are easy to play. Every hero and villain is complex in its own nature requiring you to first learn the pattern of them. The easiest Duelist that you can play in Marvel Rivals is Punisher. You can use his Adjudication and Deliverance ability to shoot at targets from the range to deal damage to them. Punisher also has a Turret that he can deploy at any place allowing you to deal potential damage to targets.

Scarlet Witch is another easy Duelist to use. However, if you want to use more complex heroes like Spider-Man, it is recommended to train first with them. Spider-Man does not have high hit points (health) which makes him a weaker character in terms of hit points. However, if you learn how to play them, then you can make great plays for your team.

Here are all the Duelist characters in Marvel Heroes.

The Punisher

Storm

Hela

Magik

Black Panther

Spider-Man

Iron Man

Scarlet Witch

Namor

Star Lord

Vanguards Role in Marvel Rivals

The Vanguards are perfect for the starting players in Marvel Rivals. They include the tank/support characters that allow you to take a lot of hits, deal potential damage, and provide a shield to your allies. Moreover, these characters are perfect for supporting the Duelists and Strategists in a match.

Groot is one of the easiest Vanguard characters to play and new players can easily learn its pattern to lead allies in a match. However, for those who want to deal potential damage and provide support at the same time, then Bruce Banner (Hulk) is the perfect Vanguard character for the players. Hulk deals high melee damage to opponents and he has a better movement range due to its Incredible Leap ability.

The Vanguards are all about leading your team into the fight and taking the initial hits to create distractions and allow your allies to attack enemies from a different angle. Playing a Vanguard will also keep new players less stressed due to high hit points (Health).

Strategist Role in Marvel Rivals

The Strategists are the main support class that includes the characters with defensive abilities. This class is also player-friendly allowing new players to support allies by buffing their combat. Moreover, this class also has the ability to heal themselves allowing players to not worry that much about taking hits.

Similar to the other two classes, this class also has some easy characters and complex characters. If you are a beginner,  Rocket Racoon is the best Strategist for you as you get a self-healing ability along with a buff that can boost nearby allies’ attack damage. Staying close to a Vanguard and Duelist will allow you to boost both of the character types’ attack damage.

Playing a Strategist will also let you learn about all the core mechanics of the game and matches from a distance. You do not have to face an opponent one-on-one often while playing a strategist. Your role is to provide support for your allies and do primary attacks whenever necessary.

Adam Warlock

So, if you are a new player joining Marvel Rivals, then we recommend choosing easier-difficulty characters from the Vanguards and Strategists. However, if you are someone who has a good record in Marvel Rivals, then push your playstyle with more-advanced characters from the Duelists and Vanguards to get MVPs.
