A known leaker has claimed that initially planned Mortal Kombat 1 DLC is now canceled. This included another Kombat Pack and a second story expansion. They state the reasoning behind this move is due to its previous expansion’s poor sales.

A planned second story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 is purportedly canceled

In a recent post on the Mortal Kombat Leaks subreddit, user _FateUnknown_ claimed Kombat Pack 3 and a second story expansion were planned. However, they were both recently canceled with no plans for future characters.

“Kombat pack 3 and a second story expansion were planned. All canceled recently, no more characters after kombat pack 2,” the leaker wrote. “A kameo or two might make it since there has been work done on them, but I dont know yet.”

When asked what the reasoning was behind the cancellation, they simply said, “Khaos Reigns sold poorly.”

Like every rumor of this nature, it is usually wise to take it with a grain of salt. It should be noted _FateUnknown_ is a “verified insider” on the subreddit, so at the very least, they’ve been reliable to some extent in the past. We will just have to wait and see what happens after the next couple of guest characters release.

Ghostface is the most recent character released for Mortal Kombat 1. The Scream antagonist’s move set features fun references to the films. Their incredibly meta fatality is one fans will enjoy.

There are still two more guest fighters coming to Mortal Kombat 1. T-1000 from Terminator 2, and Conan the Barbarian (based on the Arnold Schwarzenegger film) are still set to release. Dates for both characters have yet to be revealed.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns launched back in September. It includes the story expansion, and Kombat Pack 2 which includes Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian. For Black Friday, a bundle including the base game and the expansion is discounted by 50%.
