The Red Drum is supposed to be of the Common rarity on Snowcap Island, but it sure doesn’t act like it.

How to Catch a Red Drum

While it has preferences, there isn’t really a rod that specifically targets Common fish. However, any fishing rod that increases your Luck stat is a good option. However, with Common fish, you don’t need to worry about all of the extras, though the Red Drum proves difficult to catch at times.

As stated above, it’s part of the Snowcap Island Bestiary. As for where it resides on the island, it prefers to spawn in the salt water, which means you have a chance of catching it when standing on Snowcap Island and fishing in the water that leads to the ocean.

Red Drum Preferences

The funny thing is, it only has a couple of preferences, and isn’t entirely picky as to when it likes to spawn. To start, it likes the Spring and Autumn seasons best, which gives you a higher chance of obtaining a Red Drum.

While it prefers insect bait, you don’t necessarily have to use it with your rod. You can opt for a bait type that grants you Universal Luck, or you can fish with no bait at all. With this fish being Common, it’s not like you have to meet all the requirements, right?

Well, a lot of players report that even when meeting the exact preferences of the Red Drum, the chances of it appearing are incredibly low. Some people say that obtaining a Legendary, Mythic, or Mutated fishes are more common than this one.
