Rumor has it that Dark Souls 3 remaster is in development, but unclear if publisher Bandai Namco has tasked FromSoftware or a third-party support studio for the project… if it exists, that is. The original game released 8.5 years ago on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Dark Souls 3 rumor upsets Bloodborne fans
This rumor comes to us from insider Nick “Shpeshal_Nick” Baker. Although Baker has somewhat of a mixed reputation, majority of his leaks turn out to be true, so we feel that this one’s worth sharing with our readers.
Baker says he is unable to share more info at present, so we don’t know what platforms the remaster is headed to and who’s behind it. But Bloodborne fans aren’t taking the news too well.
“You can tell this [rumor] might actually be true because it doesn’t say it’s Bloodborne,” wrote one user on Reddit. “Why is this getting a remaster and not f****** Bloodborne?” asked another.
Worth noting here that the Bloodborne IP is owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Unless the company plans to let it go à la Death Stranding, FromSoftware won’t be able to revive it even if it wanted to.
Last time we checked, FromSoftware wasn’t opposed to the idea of bringing Bloodborne back, so the ball is certainly in Sony’s court.
