The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the latest installment of the Zelda series which has received a lot of love from the fans. The game mostly received positive reviews and sold over 2.5 million copies. However, there were still some complaints about the game regardless of its huge success. The two major complaints for Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom were the FPS rate on Nintendo Switch and the Menu system design. Both of these are repeated complaints and the game’s directors, Tomomi Sano and Satoshi Terada addressed these complaints in a recent interview.
The Devs Address the FPS and Menu System Complaints – Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
During an interview with BBC recently, one of the game’s directors Tomomi Sano addressed the FPS rate complaint by the fans. Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom does not run smoothly on Nintendo Switch which takes away the whole enjoying experience for the user. To overcome this problem, Sano assured that the game uses a variable frame rate and that the developers felt this was the “best option” available.
The game menu design is one of the top complaints from many fans as Nintendo hasn’t moved on from the side-scrolling item menus. Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has over 120 Echoes in the game and all are kept in a single row which creates inconvenience for the players to scroll through the list to find the echo they want to use. For this criticism, Satoshi Terada says, the menu design is meant to encourage experimentation so that players come across the echoes they have acquired but never used while going through the list.
Moreover, he did add a better solution for the players who do not want to scroll through the echoes. He advised players to use the Notebook to view the most numbers of Echoes at once, allowing them to select an Echo easily without scrolling.
In addition to the game’s directors, Eiji Aonuma, the producer of The Legend of Zelda series was also a part of the interview. He shares his thoughts on the game and how he feels that they satisfy a lot of players and wishes to continue with 2D top-down Zelda games.
