Building your city in the frozen waste will require you to build various districts corresponding to the materials available around the central district (an area with the generator). However, your first step would be to civilize the population by sheltering them. To reduce your sheltering problem, you must learn the process of building the Housing Districts efficiently to not waste any Heat and fuel.

This guide will help you build housing districts efficiently in Frostpunk 2.

How to Efficiently Build Housing Districts in Frostpunk 2

The Housing District is one of the initial districts that you will build in New London and you want to start it off near the Central District to acquire the Heat bonus. To get started, press the B button to open the building menu and select the Housing District. Here, you will see your central district highlighted in blue color which shows the Heated area.

Now, you need to select at least 3 areas within the highlighted areas and the rest of the 3 areas can be in white to start building a housing district with a Heat bonus. Getting the Heat bonus will require less heat for your Housing District keeping the overall Heat requirement in stable/surplus condition.

Moreover, building the Housing District will require the following materials for the construction.

200 Workforce

40 Heatstamps

200 Prefabs

The default Housing District provides 20 Shelter so you will have to build a certain number of Housing Districts according to the needy population for sheltering.

Last but not least, you can expand the Housing District to increase the Shelter capacity by 5 and add the Research Institute to the building slot. The Research Institute will help you research new possibilities in all different ideas so it is essential to unlock it as soon as possible.
