Diablo IV has been one of the most successful launches of video games in the past year, bringing $666 Million in the first five days of the launch (June 5, 2023). There is no doubt it is among the popular games from Activision Blizzard and on top of that, it alone brought a $1 Billion revenue in just one month of its launch.

Today, the total revenue is above $1 Billion, but an interesting figure that a video game enthusiast shared on X/Twitter is that Diablo IV only made $150 Million from the in-game microtransactions lifetime. This figure was made public on LinkedIn by the Senior Product Manager at Blizzard Entertainment. However, the figure has now been removed from the statement.

Comparing it with other video games with microtransactions, it is pretty low saying that it is a lifetime revenue. Moreover, the top-down genre might be another aspect that players don’t bother spending more money on an already AAA video game.

Well, whatever the case, Diablo IV will surely bring more money to Blizzard at the launch of its first DLC, Vessel of Hatred coming on October 8, 2024.
