Gael García Bernal & Eiza González in ‘La Máquina’ Boxer Series Trailer

“If we’re doomed, we’re doomed together.” Hulu has unveiled an official trailer for a new series titled La Máquina (which just translates to The Mask) created by TV writer Marco Ramirez. It’s also produced by and stars Gael García Bernal & Diego Luna through their own production company, with a streaming debut this October on Hulu. “Winning has a price.” The sports series follows an aging boxer whose crafty manager secures one last shot at a title – with a fight coming up in 12 weeks. But if they want to make it to fight night, they must navigate a mysterious underworld force and the boxer’s own ailing mind… The cast features Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, Eiza González, Jorge Perugorría, Andrés Delgado, and Karina Gidi, Dariam Coco + Lucía Méndez. This really makes me want to recommend Gael García Bernal’s wrestling film Cassandro. The series looks pretty generic until the psychological thriller elements kick in.
