Like most modern RPGs, Star Wars Outlaws also has a Picking Lock mechanic through which players can unlock the doors that are blocking their way. However, the picking lock mechanic in Star Wars Outlaws is more of a rhythmic challenge which can be overwhelming in the beginning hours of the playthrough.
This guide will help you pick locks using the Data Spike in Star Wars Outlaws.
How to Pick Locks Using the Data Spike in Star Wars Outlaws
The picking lock system in Star Wars Outlaws is a rhythmic challenge containing a loop of beats that also trigger the yellow light on the right side. You must sync the pin with the beats in the loop by pressing R2/RT (consoles) or LMB (PC) to pick the lock.
Now, you can do it in two ways, looking at the blinking of a yellow light or hearing the beats in a rhythm. Remembering the light in your head is more difficult in my opinion as you cannot settle a certain rhythm for the light without a certain tone. That is why, if you focus more on the beat in the loop, you can remember it well in your head and trigger the pin according to the beats in the loop with your eyes closed.
However, if you are having trouble with this mechanic and don’t want to waste time hearing the beats, you can turn it off from the Gameplay Settings.
Open the settings from the main menu.
Select the Gameplay option.
Scroll down to the bottom to find the ‘Lockpicking Rhythm Challenge’ option, and set it to Off.
After turning off the rhythm challenge for lockpicking, you just need to use the Data Spike on the locked door and trigger the pins in any order to unlock the door.
Moreover, you can also enable visual cues for the rhythm challenge if you wish to keep it on, but make it easier to visually see the beats in a loop. Furthermore, you can change the difficulty of it to make it easier or harder.
So, if you didn’t know about the settings to alter the lockpicking rhythm challenge, feel free to adjust it to your liking to have a much better playthrough experience.
