Black Myth: Wukong had the biggest launch of the year with 1.5 million concurrent players on Steam alone in the early hours. A couple of days after the launch, the concurrent player count reached over 2.4 million players according to SteamDB. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of players are playing it on PlayStation 5, but it seems that the game has optimization problems when it comes to intense moments during combat.

One of the PS5 players posted on Weibo (a Chinese variant of X/Twitter), asking whether it is possible for PS5’s performance and optimization to be improved, to which the head director of Game Science, Yang Qi responded, “We do have some problems with the optimizations, it’s basically bottlenecked.”

Even though the PlayStation 5 version of Black Myth: Wukong features three different display modes including Quality, Balanced, and Performance, the console seems to lack performance in all of them.

Unfortunately, Game Science doesn’t have any performance enhancement patches lined up to sort out the problems for the players on consoles, but they might come soon.
