Tiger Vanguard is one of the two Yaoguai Kings who you can encounter and a required boss for progressing in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong. He is probably the hardest boss that you encounter in your journey at this point because he is a fearsome Guai with hard-hitting combos, slams, and a couple of stone tricks.
This guide will provide you with essential tips and tricks that you can use to easily defeat Tiger Vanguard in Black Myth: Wukong.
Where to Find Tiger Vanguard in Black Myth: Wukong
Tiger Vanguard is located in the Crouching Tiger Temple where you can reach after defeating the King of Flowing Sands. Head along the path on the left side and pass through the crack in the wall to come across the Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine. Go up the staircase of the temple to initiate a cutscene and encounter Tiger Vanguard.
How to Defeat Tiger Vanguard in Black Myth: Wukong
Tiger Vanguard is a fearsome warrior with several attacks and tricks to pin you down into the bloody pool. You can try and stay far from him, but it will not do you any good as he doesn’t have any lunging attacks that you can punish. However, he does a slam attack from a distance that you can punish after dodging but he only does this when he backs away on his own.
The best technique for defeating Tiger Vanguard is to stick close to him and avoid the punch combos and sword slashes to punish him afterward.
Tips & Tricks for Defeating Tiger Vanguard
Dodge the dual-hand ground slam attack in the beginning and punish him with your light attack combo.
Before he lands his next attack, use the Immobilize spell to stop him and punish him with another light/heavy attack combo. Moreover, use the Wandering Wight Spirit Skill at the end to deal extensive damage.
As he breaks out of the spell, dodge backward and use the Red Tides spell to transform. Start using the heavy attacks in the transformation for maximum damage output.
If he uses the sword slash or punch combo, avoid it by dodging in the opposite direction and keep punishing him.
Once you transform back, dodge away to see if he does a combo attack or sword slash again. Punish him accordingly after dodging his attacks.
If he changes into the stone form, DO NOT attack it, instead, use the time as a breather and heal if needed. Wait for him to change back and inspect its next move.
If the tiger goes back, he is going to use a charged ground slam attack. Be ready to dodge it and punish him afterward. Moreover, you can use your focus points at this point to deal a great amount of damage to him.
As you are punishing him, stop to replenish the stamina and use the Immobilize Spell if charged to continue punishing him.
Upon depleting half of the boss’s HP, he will change its stance and do a kick + punch combo ending with a ground slam. Dodge around the combo to stay close to him and as soon as he does the ground slam, start punishing him again.
If you see him change into the stone form again, DO NOT hit him and inspect the water for any movement as he will do his own version of Cloud Step to strike you from a random direction. Keep your eyes on the bloody water to anticipate the direction.
You won’t be able to punish him after his cloud step attack so keep the patience and let him do his next attack. If he does the charged slam attack, consider yourself lucky and punish him after dodging the slam.
While you are punishing him with your combo attack, use the Cloud Step Spell to get in an extra hit at the end.
If you are feeling confident, then punish him after his combo attack or use the Immobilize Spell if charged to get him down to his last breath or maybe defeat him.
Rinse and repeat the steps according to his attacks to defeat Tiger Vanguard.
Rewards for Defeating Tiger Vanguard
Upon defeating Tiger Vanguard, you will be rewarded with Rock Solid Spell, a Mind Core material, 3x Silk, and 1,300+ Will.
