“When you say ‘a filmmaker’ – a lot of people think of directors, writers, producers, and stars… But Ray is a filmmaker, Ray is a storyteller.” Some of you may have noticed that Marvel & 20th Century’s multiverse mash-up movie Deadpool & Wolverine ends with a tribute saying “In Memory of Raymond Chan.” So who was he? Well, now everyone can learn a bit more about him. Raymond Chan, best known as Ray by those who worked with him, was an acclaimed art director & production designer for Marvel Studios. His first credit for Marvel was on Thor: The Dark World in 2013. In the video, producer Kevin Feige states that he went on to work on 10 movies in total for them, including the epic Avengers: Endgame two-parter as the supervising art director. He was also art director on Alien vs. Predator and Children of Men before joining the MCU. Unfortunately Ray passed away in April earlier this year at the age of 56 near his home in Wales, which is why they dedicated Deadpool & Wolverine to him.
