The Venice Film Festival, known officially in Italian as Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia, has officially announced its selection of films playing at the historic film festival in 2024. Celebrating their 81st year (the oldest film festival in the world), Venezia returns with fascinating line-up and compelling selection of films. Venice 2024 runs from August 28th to September 7th in just a few months. The biggest highlights are major competition films: Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux, Brady Corbet’s shot-on-70mm-film The Brutalist, Luca Guadagnino’s Queer starring Daniel Criag, Pablo Larrain’s Maria starring Angelina Jolie, Halina Reijn’s Babygirl starring Nicole Kidman, and Justin Kurzel’s surprise entry The Order (set in the Pacific Northwest). And, of course, many of other movies to discover when they premiere on the Lido in Venice in a few months. I’ll be back again as always for this fall festival to watch and report back on the latest selection. I’m hearing great buzz on a few of these already. Full list for 2024 below. // Continue Reading ›
