No Man’s Sky Worlds Part 1 update (patch 5.0) overhauls the game making it more vibrant and alive across all planets. Improved visuals with more flora and fauna across the planets will allow players to discover unique plants and creatures in their adventure. One of the newly added creatures that players can hunt down is a Vile Brood who goes by the name of Brood Mother.
It is a boss encounter in general but she cannot be found roaming around the planets, instead, players have to spawn her. This guide will help you find the Vile Brood to start the Brood Mother encounter in No Man’s Sky.
How to Find the Vile Brood in No Man’s Sky
The very first step in finding the Brood Mother is to detect a Vile Brood on a planet. There are two different ways in which you can do this. For the first method, you can pursue a new mission called Mother of Infestation from the Nexus. It will take you to a planet containing a Vile Brood. However, as the missions roll randomly, it might take you some time before you can initiate the mission.
The second method is a lot quicker and can be done at any time. All you have to do is to hop in your ship and start scanning the planets in any System. Scanning the planets will reveal whether they include Vile Brood or not. Upon finding the Vile Brood detection on the planet, pursue the landing to begin the next step.
Where to Find Juicy Grub in No Man’s Sky
Upon landing on a planet that includes Vile Brood, you need to find a Juicy Grub. A Juicy Grub is a Vile Larva found growing on the same planet as where you detected Vile Brood. To find the Juicy Grub, equip the scanner and look around for a red icon with a white grub shape. You will probably find them around 100 meters from your landing point.
Once you have found one, loot it to store in your inventory and move to the final step of beginning the encounter with Brood Mother.
How to Start the Encounter With Brood Mother in No Man’s Sky
After picking up a Juicy Grub, you need to crush it from your inventory to spawn the Brood Mother and initiate the boss encounter.
NOTE: You can crush the Juicy Grub on any planet whether it contains Vile Brood or not, Brood Mother spawns regardless.
Brood Mother is not a difficult boss, but if you encounter her at an early level, then it might be difficult for you as she also spawns mini Vile Broods throughout the fight. Although, shooting at her face will deal the most damage, breaking the shell off her body will reveal more hit points.
After defeating Brood Mother, you will have a chance to get a new Helmet to customize your character’s appearance.
